Resume Template 1
Resume Template 1 is in a scannable, chronological
format. A chronological resume format lists work history in reverse chronological
order.
Subsequently, it's also called a reverse chronological resume format. See Resume
Formats for more information.
You may download Resume Template 1 for free and modify it for personal use.
It's an RTF file, which is compatible with most word processors (such as Microsoft® Word)
and safe to download.
But first, please read the Important notice below. It includes
the download link.
If you'd prefer a chronological resume format that has the headings listed above
the sections, see Resume Template 5. Refer
to Resume Templates for the
formats and styles available for downloading.
Because of differences in the way that Web browsers and word processors display
pages, the resume format (line spacing, margins, fonts, etc.) displayed below
differs slightly from the download version.
If you copy and paste this resume template from your screen instead of downloading
it, the format might not stay intact. That's because copying picks up background
Web-page formatting that might not be understood by the software application
into which you paste it.

OBJECTIVE |
[Professional resume writers often omit
this resume template section in modern resume formats, even though
it's tradition to include it. Whether or not to include it is up
to you, but first read the Profile section below. For general resume
submissions (e.g., via job banks or recruiters), describe your career
goal in one to three brief sentences. When submitting your chronological
resume to apply for specific job openings, tailor your objective
(and your entire chronological resume) to closely match each job
description without embellishing. Delete this section from the resume
template if you don't use it.] |
PROFILE |
[Although this section makes this resume
template more like a combination resume format than a traditional
chronological version, professional resume writers often include
it in modern chronological resumes in place of an Objective section.
That's because it generally lets employers know what you can do for
them, which is better than implying right up front what they can
do for you. (Interviewers will likely ask about your career goal,
whether or not it's in your resume.) To use this section, summarize
your background in a few sentences, and then list specifics under
each job in your Experience section. Use action
words and industry-standard keywords.
You may rename this section, such as Summary, Background or Qualifications.
Delete it if you decide not to use it.] |

- [List significant awards, accomplishments or curricular activities,

EXPERIENCE; for example, if you're fresh out of school with little
career work experience.]

[EXTRA] |
[Optional extra section for what you think is important
to emphasize; for example, special skills, military experience, awards
and membership in career-related professional organizations. (Personal
hobbies and interests are no longer included in U.S. resumes, because
they have too-often given the wrong impression.) If this section
is more important than another, move it up in your resume. Delete
this section from the resume template if you don't use it.]
|
REFERENCES |
References available on request. [This resume template
section is often omitted in modern resume formats, because employers
now assume that applicants will provide references when asked. If
you want to keep it anyway, simply delete this bracketed text. If
you need the space, delete this section.] |
