Thank You Letter Template
This free sample thank you letter template suggests how to write an interview
thank you letter and provides the format. Although it adheres to "standards" on
the Web, it's not set in concrete. It's just to give you ideas about what to
write in yours, while providing the format to make it easier for you.
You may download, personalize and otherwise edit this free thank you letter
template to send to your interviewers after job interviews, or simply use it
as an example to write your own from scratch. It's an RTF file format, which
is compatible with most word processors (such as Microsoft® Word) and safe
to download.
But first, please read the Important notice below, which includes
the download link.
Because of differences in the way that Web browsers and word processors display
pages, the format of the thank you letter template displayed below differs slightly
from the download version created in a word processor.
For a plain-text (ASCII) version, just copy the text of the thank you letter
template from your screen and then paste it into a word processor or text editor,
such as Windows® Notepad. You might lose some formatting in copying, but
it'll be easy to fix.
This thank you letter template is in a full-block style, business-letter format.
But when emailing thank you letters, they don't necessarily need to be quite
as formally formatted.
For example, you could delete the letterhead, date and recipient's address if
you wish, because an email will automatically include informal equivalents. It's
a good idea to keep at least the salutation (Dear...) and complimentary
close (Sincerely...), but you can change them to your preference.

Dear [Interviewer's name]:
[Thank the interviewer. Mention the day of the interview and job title.
Keep your thank you letter to one page.]
[Express your interest in the company. Say that you want the job. Deliver
a subtle sales pitch indicating why you think you're qualified for the
job, based on matters discussed in your interview. State what you can do
for the company, department, team, etc.]
[If you forgot to mention something important during your interview, this
is your second chance. But, don't say you forgot! Just include it.]
[Mention topics that piqued your interest or something to make you stand
out in the interviewer's mind. For example, if you both chuckled about
something, mention it; if one of your skills, work habits, etc. seemed
to interest the interviewer, bring it up again; if something the interviewer
said about the job or company interested you, mention it.]
[Start wrapping it up here, by again saying thank you for the interview.
Offer to answer questions, address concerns or generally provide more information.
Provide a full phone number at which you are easily reachable, even if
it's in the letterhead. Indicate that you look forward to hearing from
the interviewer.]
