Cover Letter Example

This free cover letter example matches our sample cover letter, but it has the "blanks" filled in for a job as a Sr. Technical Instructor. See also our cover letter template.

You may download, personalize and otherwise modify this free cover letter example or just keep it handy as a sample to write your own. It's an RTF file format, which is compatible with most word processors (such as Microsoft® Word) and safe to download.

But first, please read the Important notice below, which includes the download link.

Because of differences in the way that Web browsers and word processors display pages, the cover letter example format displayed below differs slightly from the download version created in a word processor.

If you copy and paste this cover letter example format from your screen instead of downloading it, the format might not stay intact.

This cover letter example format is in full-block, business-letter style. But when emailing cover letters, they don't necessarily need to be quite as formally formatted.

For example, you could delete the letterhead, date and recipient's address if you want, because an email will automatically include informal equivalents. It's a good idea to keep at least the salutation (Dear...) and complimentary close (Sincerely...), but you can change them to your preference.

Never email your resume or cover letter as a file attachment without consent. Most computer-savvy employer reps won't open unsolicited file attachments, because they can harbor malicious computer viruses. Many companies have set up their email servers to automatically strip-off attachments for the same reason. In the absence of consent, send your resume and cover letter directly in the body of an email instead of attaching them.

Dear Ms. Doe:

I am very interested in interviewing for the position of Senior Technical Instructor. I saw your related job post at

I am an expert technical instructor, currently working as a Senior Technical Instructor. I have much experience to offer XYZ, including classroom and lab instruction, course development, training-video production and Web-based training development. The technical-training positions I've successfully held range from Technical Instructor I, up to and including Supervisor of Technical Training and Course Development. For more information, please see my resume (enclosed).

As a Senior Technical Instructor for XYZ, I would provide high-quality, accurate training courses and supporting materials, including instructor lecture guides, student training aids and classroom handouts. I would also explore and propose alternative training methods to ensure a convenient and cost-effective education for XYZ's target audiences. For examples of my work, please see my online portfolio at

I am available to start the job after giving a two-week courtesy notice to my current employer. I would greatly appreciate an interview. If I don't hear from you sooner, I will call you early next week to ask if I may schedule one.

If you need more information, please don't hesitate to contact me. The best way to reach me is on my cell phone between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, by dialing (555) 555-5551.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
